Job Description

We are seeking individuals to fill the positions of full and part time Dietary Cooks.

Minimum qualifications are listed below:

  • High school graduate or equivalent education preferred
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diet is preferred
  • Food services experience is desired but not required
  • Verbal and writing abilities necessary to make carious computations in keeping work records, and in recipe preparation
  • Motor coordination and manual dexterity are required to prepare food and operate dietary equipment
  • Numerical ability necessary to make various computations in keeping work records, and in recipe preparation
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions
  • An appreciation of the value of food and dietary equipment and an awareness of the requirement for careful handling and economy serving
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, and work assignments
  • Able and willing to work flexible hours, such as evenings, weekends, and holiday rotations
  • Must be patient and courteous towards staff, patients, and family members
  • HIPAA compliant; confidentiality is a must

Essential Duites:

  • Coordinate food preparation and meal service as directed by the Dietary Manager
  • Plan and initiate cooking schedule for food preparation to meet meal times
  • Prepare, season, cook, and serve for assigned meal
  • Ensure appropriate portioned servings according to portion control standards
  • Prepare and serve nutritional snacks for patients as directed by Dietary Manager or Dietician
  • Monitor temperature of hot and cold foods through food preparation and service to ensure that established temperature goals are met prior to steam table transfer and meal delivery as well as maintained through meal service
  • Check and inspect food products and supplies as delivered
  • Supervise and assist in storage of supplies and food products
  • Determine amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus
  • Notify CDM of food, supplies, or equipment needs and repairs; unsafe conditions
  • Be knowledgeable of Federal, State and facility regulations, policies and procedures
  • Attend in-service educational programs as requested by CDM
  • Follow defined safety codes while performing all duties
  • Understand fire and disaster plan; follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies
  • Other duties as assigned by CDM
