Job Description

The Faulkton Area Medical Center is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Hospital Administrator for the Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic in Faulkton, SD. This position is responsible for the implementation of all FAMC goals and business objectives and will provide strong administrative and fiscal leadership to ensure facility soundness and compliance. The Administrator of FAMC is accountable for planning, organizing, and directing the hospital to ensure that quality patient care is provided and that financial integrity of FAMC is maintained. This position is responsible for creating an environment and culture that enables FAMC to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals, conveying FAMC’s mission to staff, holding staff accountable for their performance, and motivating staff to improve safety and performance. Applicant must be able to measure, assess and continuously improve facility’s performance.

For consideration, it is preferred applicants have a degree in business administration, health services administration, or a health care related field with at least three years of experience in a health care setting. Ideal candidates will possess an advanced degree and demonstrate successful experience in business and health services leadership and complex strategic and communication skills.

The primary duties associated with this position are:

  • Manage budget and fiscal responsibilities;
  • Monitor and direct health service programs;
  • Develop, interpret, and direct policies governing assigned programs;
  • Provide oversight of various functions such as: medical logistics, managed care, human resource management, patient administration, facility construction, and emergency/disaster planning;
  • Monitor federal and state standards implementing changes to facility;
  • Serve as a liaison with community, state, federal, and private agencies.
